Make a privacy request
On this page
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you can ask 4Internet, LLC what it holds about you, ask it to correct or delete that information, opt out of sale or sharing, or appeal an answer you disagree with. You do this with the Privacy Request Form, or by phone or mail.
#What you can ask for
According to the policy, subject to applicable law and verification, you can ask for:
- access to your information, or confirmation of whether it is processed,
- correction,
- deletion,
- a portable copy,
- restriction, or a limit on the use of sensitive information,
- withdrawal of consent,
- an opt-out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or qualifying profiling, and
- an appeal if a request is denied.
The policy says you will not be treated differently for exercising a privacy right.
#Send the request
-
Open the Privacy Request Form, or select Submit a Privacy Request on the Your Privacy Choices page.
The form asks who you are, what you are asking for and the details.
- 1How you are connected to 4Search
- 2What you are asking for
- 3The details
-
Enter your Full name and Email address. These are required. Add your state, province or country if you wish.
-
Choose your Relationship to 4Search: website visitor, contact or advertising requester, authorized agent, parent or legal guardian, or other.
-
Choose the Request type: access or know, correction, deletion, data portability, withdraw consent, opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, limit sensitive or consumer health data, appeal a prior decision, or other.
-
In Request details, say which website, message or approximate date the request is about, and a reference number if you are following up on an earlier request.
-
Type the characters shown in the security check, then select Submit privacy request.
When it is sent, the page says your privacy request has been received and that you will be contacted if verification or more information is needed. It may also show a reference code. Keep it, and quote it if you follow up. See How to reach us.
#What happens next
- Verification. 4Search asks only for the information reasonably necessary to verify who you are. Because ordinary search does not need an account, its records are organized by technical request information rather than by an account, so extra verification may be needed to find a record safely.
- Time. The policy says the site will acknowledge and respond within the period the law requires, ordinarily 45 days, subject to a permitted extension.
- Agents. If someone acts for you, they identify you, show proof of authority and meet the legal verification requirements.
- If a request is denied or limited. You get an explanation and, where an appeal right applies, instructions. To appeal, use the same form and choose Appeal a prior decision. A request may be limited when identity cannot be verified, a record is exempt, or the law requires keeping it.
#By phone or mail
The Privacy Policy and the Your Privacy Choices page give a telephone number and the postal address of the Privacy Site Coordinator at 4Internet, LLC. Use the form if you can, because it keeps your request and its reference together.
#Special cases
- A child's information. A parent or guardian chooses Deletion and says the request concerns a child. See Children's privacy.
- Health-related searches. Choose Limit sensitive or consumer health data. The Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explains your rights.
- Residents of certain states. The U.S. State Privacy Notice lists state-specific rights, including how Nevada residents opt out of a covered sale.
#Common questions
How do I delete my data from 4Search?
Clear your browser data for what is on your device, as in What stays in your browser, and how to clear it. For what the site keeps on its side, send a privacy request and choose Deletion.
How long does a privacy request take?
The policy says the site responds within the period the law requires, ordinarily 45 days, subject to a permitted extension.
Do I need an account to make a request?
No. You enter a name and an email address in the form. The site may ask for more information to verify the request.
What if I only have a general question about privacy?
The policy says questions that do not involve a rights request can go through the Contact page.
